Welcome!
Welcome!
I am excited you have begun exploring our class website. I recently moved to Marquette and I am ready to dive into teaching sixth grade at North Star Academy.
I am just finished up my second year teaching self contained sixth grade in Crivitz, Wisconsin. Prior to that I interned in a second grade classroom in East Lansing, Michigan. While in Crivitz I was the Varsity Boys and Girl's golf coach, also with being a sixth grade camp counselor at our week long Camp Bird experience. I served on our district's Response to Intervention (RtI) committee and helped develop our RtI process for the district. I was also a trained member of the elementary school's PBIS committee (Positive Behavior Initiative and Supports) and created and organized many activities to support the positive behaviors in our school!
Right now I am nearing the end of my master's in elementary education from Michigan State University. I also received my Bachelor's degree from Michigan State in Elementary education with a dual minor in English and History. Additionally, I am certified all subjects 1-8 in Wisconsin. I am a member of the Wisconsin State Reading Association (WSRA) as well as the Northeast Wisconsin Reading Council.
I recently moved from Crivitz to Marquette, Michigan this summer. I am originally from Stephenson, Michigan, which is about two hours south of Marquette. My mother is a fourth grade teacher, and my father runs a computer repair business and owns and operates the family golf course. I am very excited to be living in the beautiful Upper Peninsula again and look forward to preparing a brand new classroom for the fall.
In my spare time I enjoy golfing. Usually I join a women's league every summer but this summer I joined a couple's league. I also love to read and go camping. Enjoying the outdoors will be easy to do in Marquette since I am now just a few steps away from Lake Superior and all that it has to offer.
I hope you enjoy exploring my site as I continue to add new and exciting content.
